Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passes away at 92

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and veteran Congress leader passed away on Thursday. According to AIIMS sources, his condition is critical He is being treated by a team of multiple doctors. The reason for his hospitalisation was not immediately known.

Manmohan Singh was India’s only Sikh Prime Minister who made his entry into the Rajya Sabha in 1991, not long after becoming the Finance Minister under the PV Narasimha Rao government in June that year. He was a representation of Assam for five terms in the Upper House, before making a move to Rajasthan in 2019.

His last words in Parliament were a strong criticism against demonetisation, describing it as a “sanctioned and lawful raid.”
