# Lawyer representing Anshuman Joshi sends notice, alleges insult to democratic and institutional dignity
New Delhi, 03 June, 2025
An incident involving alleged misbehavior with senior political leader Anshuman Joshi at the Constitution Club of India has triggered sharp reactions in political and public circles. On Joshi’s behalf, advocate Deepak Raj Singh has served a legal notice to the Club’s Governing Council, demanding ₹2,500 crore in damages and the appointment of an independent administrator to oversee its functioning. The notice was issued on June 1, 2025.
According to the notice, Joshi had arrived at the club on May 29 to attend a formal meeting hosted by a sitting MP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vision for Development” agenda. The meeting was attended by Members of Parliament, political leaders, and industry delegates.
However, the situation reportedly turned hostile when Joshi and his associates were allegedly subjected to abusive and threatening behavior by club staff. The notice specifically names Manager Sanjay Singh, Director Arvind Kumar, and Anil Kumar, a security guard from Seminal Securities, among others.
MPs’ intervention ignored
Despite multiple Members of Parliament and guests requesting the staff to show restraint, the notice states that the behavior continued. The lawyer has described the incident as a breach of democratic decorum and a reflection of systemic failure within the club.
Mental distress and public humiliation cited
The legal notice claims the incident caused mental trauma and public embarrassment to Mr. Joshi. It alleges damage to his dignity, professional standing, and emotional well-being, holding the club and its staff responsible.
Club’s functioning questioned
The notice also raises concerns about the club’s internal functioning, arguing that the incident reflects broader issues of mismanagement, misuse of authority, and lack of accountability. It calls for the appointment of an independent administrator to ensure proper governance.
7 days to apologize and compensate
The Constitution Club has been given seven days to issue a public apology and pay ₹2,500 crore in compensation. Failing that, legal action—both civil and criminal—will be initiated under BNSS 2023, tort law, and other applicable legal provisions.
No official response from club so far
As of now, the Constitution Club has not released any official statement. The incident is being widely discussed in legal and political circles, raising serious questions about accountability in elite institutions and whether such treatment of public figures is becoming commonplace. The matter is likely to gather further attention in the coming days.
