Legal Affairs Department Organizes Blood Donation Camp Ahead of World Blood Donor Day

In a proactive step beyond its legal responsibilities, the Department of Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Law and Justice organized a blood donation camp today at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society. The initiative was held in the lead-up to World Blood Donor Day, observed globally on June 14, to encourage voluntary blood donation among citizens.

Law Secretary Dr. Anju Rathi Rana took part in the camp and emphasized the importance of viewing blood donation as a social responsibility. Several senior officials, women employees, and other staff members from the department also actively participated by donating blood.

The event echoed this year’s global theme — “Give blood, give hope: Join the effort and save lives” — and highlighted the crucial role that regular, voluntary blood donation plays in strengthening the country’s healthcare system.

Going beyond routine formalities, this initiative marked a tangible contribution to the national blood reserves. It also underscored the fact that government institutions are not confined to policy-making alone but can also play an active and compassionate role in public welfare.

Through this effort, the department demonstrated that government offices can step up in times of need and contribute meaningfully to society, reinforcing their commitment to both governance and humanity.
