KFintech Launches Klarity Agentic AI Solution to Combat Signature Fraud in BFS
KFin Technologies Limited (KFintech) has launched Klarity, an enterprise-grade Agentic AI solution designed to help financial institutions detect signature fraud and reduce wrongful rejection of genuine signatures across banking and financial services operations.
The solution is designed to address two challenges faced by financial institutions: sophisticated forged signatures being incorrectly accepted as genuine and legitimate signatures being rejected because of natural variations in signing behaviour.
According to KFintech, such variations can occur due to factors including ageing, medical conditions and changes in pen dynamics. Wrongful rejections can result in delayed transactions, additional administrative work and potential customer losses, while undetected forged signatures can expose institutions to financial losses, legal risks and reputational damage.
Klarity Uses Micro-Biometric Signature Analysis
Klarity goes beyond conventional image-based signature comparison by analysing detailed characteristics of individual strokes.
Its algorithms assess factors including stroke stress, pen-pressure variations, curvature velocity, entry and exit stroke angles, and baseline tremors to distinguish between genuine signatures and sophisticated forgeries.
KFintech said the approach is designed to identify skilled forgeries that may appear visually similar to genuine signatures while also accounting for natural changes in authentic signatures over time.
The solution combines biometric analysis with automated workflow orchestration and human-in-the-loop governance, positioning it as an end-to-end solution rather than a standalone signature verification tool.
Solution Targets High-Value Financial Transactions
Klarity is designed for use across financial operations where signature verification plays an important role.
KFintech said the solution can help reduce fraud exposure while improving processing efficiency and limiting false rejection of genuine signatures.
The company has cited the following benchmarks for the solution:
- Fraud risk reduction: Designed to identify previously undetected skilled forgeries.
- Wrongful rejection: Designed to reduce false rejections of genuine signatures.
- Processing speed: Up to 3x acceleration in end-to-end verification turnaround.
- False Acceptance Rate (FAR): Less than 0.01% for high-value transactions.
Klarity Extends to Demat and Registrar Operations
The solution is not limited to mutual fund operations. KFintech is also positioning Klarity for Registrar and Issuer Services (RIS) and Demat-related workflows.
These include off-market share transfers, transmission of securities, Demat instruction slips (DIS), debit instruction validation, and changes to address or bank mandates.
According to KFintech, integrating signature verification into these workflows can provide additional document verification and custody controls for corporate issuers, Depository Participants (DPs) and retail Demat account holders.
Integrated With KFin Shield
Klarity is integrated with KFin Shield, KFintech’s fraud detection platform, and is designed to support operations across capital markets and the broader BFSI sector.
The company said the combination of biometric analysis, automated workflows and human oversight is intended to strengthen fraud controls while improving operational efficiency.
KFintech Focuses on Fraud Prevention and Investor Trust
Praveen Shankaran, Chief Operating Officer (Domestic Fund Services), KFintech, said financial institutions require enterprise solutions that address specific operational challenges rather than standalone AI tools.
According to Shankaran, Klarity combines algorithmic intelligence with financial-services domain expertise to address both undetected forgery and wrongful rejection of genuine signatures.
He also highlighted the extension of the technology into RIS and Demat operations as part of KFintech’s efforts to strengthen protection across India's capital markets.
With the launch of Klarity, KFintech is expanding the use of Agentic AI and biometric analytics into financial verification workflows, with a focus on reducing signature-related fraud and improving the reliability and speed of transaction processing.
