In the past years, literary discussions have expanded their scope, and beyond poetry conferences and seminars, people are also organizing programs in the format of Literature Fest. The remarkable thing is that literature is now taking place in every field. The Literati, a Literature Society of IIT Delhi, organized a three-day literary festival in such a situation. Apart from Mushaira, poetry recitation, quizzes, debates, and many workshops and panel discussions were organised at this event.
During the series of panel discussions, Manuscript to Marketplace: How to Publish Your Book was also discussed. Cyber Lawyer Ankit Dev Arpan, founder of Writers Community, and Kaivalya Prakashan moderate the panel. In this discussion, he addressed the need for books, their use, and the challenges faced in publishing. National President of Hindustani Bhasha Academy Sudhakar Pathak, Author and Life Coach Vaibhav Pande, Director of Karat Lawz Academy Uday Singh Rathore, and Dice Academy founder Dipu Kumar Pandey participated in this discussion.
The panel consisting of the five panelists also answered the audience’s questions in the discussion, and many topics related to the dimensions of book writing were discussed with students. Sudhakar Pathak discussed manuscript writing and its editing, Vaibhav Pande addressed the topic of bestsellers, Uday Singh Rathore discussed academic book writing, and Dipu Kumar Pandey discussed book marketing.
Sudhakar Pathak, author of ‘Jindagi Kuch Yun Hi,’ emphasized how authors face challenges while reaching publication. He also addressed the manuscript’s editorial issues and suggested new marketing ideas to make the book popular.
Vaibhav Pande, author of ‘Soch Sanjeevni,’ recited his poem and discussed the benefits of the power of asking, networking, and continuing.
Karat Lawz Academy and Karat Publication founder Uday Singh Rathore expressed his views on self-publishing and the challenges and advantages of self-publishing along with Academic book writing.
Dipu Kumar Pandey emphasized the power of presentation, chapter index, and use of social media in marketing.
Ankit Dev Arpan also discussed how publishers select any book for further publishing and some key points to pitch the book before publishers.
At the end of the event, Cyber Layer Ankit Dev Arpan was also made aware of cybercrime and requested to be made aware of it. He also discussed the two upcoming books of the Kaivalya Prakashan named Uttar Deta Maun by Chandan Jha and Abhiyan: Ek Nayi Soch, Ek Nayi Udan book based on Agri Tech in the form of Poems by Retired District Agriculture Officer Rajan Balan.
On behalf of Literati, IIT Delhi Abhinava Anwesha Mohanty headed the event, Shreya Gupta, Basil Labib, and Prisha Jain worked organizing the panel, Rithu Rai performed the guest management responsibility, Akshay Raj as guest facilitation, and Rayna Maheshwari was the host for the panel.
